Dr. Ismael Lares-Asseff is a distinguished Mexican scientist and academic specializing in pharmacogenomics, pediatric pharmacology, and personalized medicine. He serves as Professor and Head of the Academy of Pharmacogenomics at the Centro Interdisciplinario de Investigación para el Desarrollo Integral Regional (CIIDIR), part of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in Durango, Mexico.
He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has led groundbreaking research on population pharmacokinetics, particularly in pediatric oncology. His work has contributed to understanding how genetic variability affects drug response in children, with a focus on improving safety and efficacy in treatments such as L-asparaginase for leukemia.
