Biography:

Dr. Sana-e-Mustafa is a Scientific Officer at the Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku, working in Plant Breeding and Genetics. Her research focuses on rice improvement, particularly molecular breeding, genetic diversity, marker-assisted selection, and the development of disease-resilient rice. Her major research interests include bacterial blight and sheath blight resistance, molecular characterization of rice germplasm, and targeted deployment of resistance genes such as Xa4 and Xa21 in elite Basmati backgrounds. She has contributed to various research publications, book chapters, and scientific articles related to rice breeding, molecular genetics, plant stress tolerance, and sustainable crop improvement. She has also participated in and presented her research at national and international conferences, workshops, and scientific symposia, providing opportunities for scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange. Her work aims to strengthen rice productivity, varietal integrity, disease resistance, and climate resilience through the effective integration of conventional and molecular breeding approaches.
