Biography:
Omer Faruk Tastan is a Ph.D. candidate in Plant Biotechnology at Gebze Technical University, Türkiye. His research focuses on sustainable soilless cultivation systems and the development of alternative substrates from agricultural residues. His current work investigates converting greenhouse tomato waste into biochar via gasification and its application as a functional component in soilless propagation media. In parallel, he is developing GreenCheck, a portable LAMP-based diagnostic platform for rapid, on-site detection of plant pathogens in greenhouse systems
