Jian Yong Wu

Dr J.Y. Wu is an Associate Professor in biosciences and biochemical engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his BSc degree from Hebei University of Science and Technology (China), MSc from Tianjin University (China), and PhD in from Queen’s University (Canada), mostly in Biochemical Engineering. His research interests include (1) molecular properties and biological functions of plant, and microbial natural products, and carbohydrate polymers, (2) secondary metabolite production and plant defense responses in plant tissue cultures, (3) physical and biological effects of power ultrasound and applications in biotechnology and natural product processing. He has published more than 100 papers on refereed journals in plant sciences, applied microbiology and biotechnology, food and natural products chemistry, and polymer sciences, and also acted frequently as referees for these journals. He is an editorial board member for the journal Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry
