They are widely used for treating respiratory diseases, vaccines, and systemic therapies through mucosal absorption. Nasal sprays are often used to deliver drugs to the brain because they can bypass the blood-brain barrier. Improvements in particle design, delivery devices, and mucoadhesive formulations are helping drugs reach the target site more effectively, remain stable, and be better absorbed.
