Public Health & Community Nursing
This session explores the pivotal role of public health and community nursing in promoting population wellness, preventing disease, and addressing health disparities across diverse communities. As healthcare increasingly shifts beyond hospital settings, community-based nursing has become essential for improving access, strengthening health systems, and empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.
Key topics include epidemiology, health promotion strategies, community health assessment, communicable and noncommunicable disease prevention, immunization programs, environmental health, and culturally competent outreach. The session will also examine the role of nurses in disaster preparedness, public health surveillance, maternal–child health, and community-based chronic disease management.
Participants will gain practical insights into designing and implementing community interventions, collaborating with public health agencies, and applying evidence-based strategies to improve population outcomes. Case examples will highlight how nurses can drive policy change, reduce inequities, and support healthier, more resilient communities.
